We do Review once in three months and many patients are satisfied with our International std Artificial limbs, as these are very less weight, able to bend in the ankle, wrist elbow, knee, & had special locks for above knee. devices.
Many members who use our prosthetic limbs drive Auto, Car, Motorbike,Go for fishing, diving to collect sea cucumber, & do farming, Paddy and Chena cultivation. some climb trees, Mason , Carpentry & Road constriuction works.
Children have to change their limbs once in a year as they grow very fast.
This time More Diabetic patients, Trap gun injury amputees, mine victims, Road accidents victims were benefited by our free service.
Also it was noted very few patients have three or more P&O devices from various Organization who gives it free,
In Mannar Caritas Valvuthayam Center for Disabled, and Methjtha Foundation at Mannar Hospital are functioning,
In Kilinochchi Handicap International, In Jaffna the Jaipoor & in Colombo Friend in Need Societies and in Trincomalee & Vavuniya Hospital The SLSPO Institution are doing this free services.
There are private institutions in Srilanka who does it for payments. it ranges from Rs, 20,000 /= to 32,000/= per devices.
It is very sad to note that in our small country where around 20.2 million population live ,around 6% are disabled. Many Sinhalese Soldiers, Tamil ex militants, and General public are more vulnerable group.( Innocent Mothers, Elders , School children & Infants are among them )
Further more it was observed in our Review that More Road accident cases , Trap gun laid to animal cause severe amputation to public and diabetic cases amputations are incresing after the war.
Public should get caution on these Rd accidents, diabetic and farmers using the trap gun to the animal in their field .
